We bought this lovely car back in 1987. The previous owner, Torleif Karlsson, had a gas station in the small village Blidsberg in Västergötland, Sweden. We drove it home to Kristianstad at All Saints' Day, without any problems despite the darkness at night. We have enjoyed a number classic rally tours and exhibitions with this car. Båstad Classic Car show is one of them. During 1988 we took the Plymouth to United Kingdom together with two other families who also drove cars from the 30's. We even went to London with the Plymouth. You can read more abouth this if you click on "Car journeys".

Plymouth PF 1934

This was a simple car for ordinary people. It costed $600 when new (although there was also an even cheaper model, Plymouth PG, which only costed $485). 16.789 PF's were built during 1934 out of a total 225.817 cars. Not bad for Plymouth, which only had been in business for seven year by then.

Meeting with a previous owner

Since we bought the car it has given us a number of plesant memories. One example is when we met a previous owner at Classic Car Show in Båstad, Skåne, Sweden. Among all other spectators; one man paid some extra attention to our Plymouth. After a while he exclaimed "I've owned this car!". Initially I didn't payed much interest to him, since you encounter a lot of pompous ass on such events.

However, he insisted and asked "Isn't the starter a bit twisted?". That caught my interest, so I opened up the door and checked on the starter. And yes; it was a bit twisted! It turned out that he had owned the car when he studied at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. After the show, we got inveted to their home in Båstad. We got some coffe and a good chat, together with some old photos. But this was not the end of the story...

A couple of years later our phone rang. It was the same man as we'd met in Båstad earlier! It turned out that his son was about to get married later that summer. It turned out that the date was the same as the annual Mercedes-Benz club meet. But of course we cancelled that in favour of the wedding.

On the day for the wedding, my wife and I drove to Karlskrona to pick up the couple that were about to get married. We drove them to the church for the ceremony. Later on we came back to the church to pick them up again. Once there, another man came up to the car together with the previous owner. It turned out that it was his brother.

"That's your old car!" he shouted. He then continued the story be telling about how he had driven his brother, the previous owner, to his wedding. And that the car has been used to drive the young couple to the hospital when their son was about to be born. The same son that now was just married!

During a calssic car rally we've stoped outside the mansion Sörbytorp. We were being offered fresh grapes from the mansion, not very common i Sweden given that we live not far from the Arctic cirle.

Beautiful car, beautiful front! Fitted with both the Swedish and the local flag of Skåne.

This is how a Plymouth PF 1934 looks from the side.

...and like this. Behind the Plymouth you can also spot my brothers ex-army truck. It's a AWD Volvo from 1963.
