We soon found out that a convertible wasn't as useful as a hardtop in rain or chilly weather. We found a couple of cars for sale on eBay Motors. But before we made up our minds, they were gone to new homes. But late autumn in 2006 we found another one. It was for sale at a dealer in Milbank, South Dakota, USA. We decided that we should buy this car and bring it home to Sweden. You can read more about this by selecting "Car journeys" in the menu to the left.

The green Imperial has only had three owners (apart from the car dealer). The first owner was Mr. Alfred Stirba, who only used the car during weekends. He had a Dodge pick-up as daily drive. When he died in the 70's, the Imperial went to his son Mr. Alfred Stirba junior. And it then was passed on to his son, Mr. Alfred Stirba III in New York. However, his son Alfred Stirba IV never got the car. Instead it went to a car dealer and ended up at Gesswein Motors in Milbank. They put out an advert at eBay Motors and that's where we found it. In total there were 11,628 Imperial Crown 4D HT made in 1965. As far as we know, this is the only one in Sweden.

The car has 84,000 miles on the meter, but it's in an excellent shape. It got a thorough maintenance and a new set of tires at Gesswein Motors. Since we got it back here in Sweden, we've had the interior cleaned and now it looks like new on the inside!

If you scroll down on this page, you'll find some technical data regarding the car. Also, we've added some photos of the car. You'll find more photos if you look at "Gallery" section in the menu to the left. There you'll find larger photos as well.

Bäckaskog castle, October 2007.

Our grandchild Simon sits behind the wheel in grandfather hat. Still too young for driving around by himself.

The engine looks pretty much the same as in our convertible.

"Grandfather, this looks great!"
